“Forgeahead helped us modernize our cloud infrastructure in a way that improved scalability, reliability, and overall efficiency for our research platform.”

the need
The existing ISO 27001 compliance process relied on manual spreadsheets and periodic control reviews across cloud infrastructure and access management. This led to delayed detection of configuration drift and access violations, increased manual effort in evidence collection, and extended exposure to compliance risks.
Audit readiness was largely reactive, with preparation concentrated around audit cycles rather than maintaining continuous compliance.
This highlighted the need for better detection, tracking, and remediation of IT control failures to enable timely audit readiness.
the solution
Forgeahead implemented 6pillars.ai, a cloud-based compliance automation platform, to transform XEMI’s IT control lifecycle into a continuous monitoring and remediation system. The solution addressed key ISO 27001 IT control domains, including access control, operations security, communications security, and system development controls.
Cloud configurations were continuously monitored to identify non-conformities in real time, significantly reducing reliance on periodic manual checks. Automated remediation workflows powered by AWS Lambda executed corrective actions for configuration drift and policy violations, minimizing the need for manual intervention. Integration with Jira and ServiceNow enabled structured tracking of compliance findings, remediation progress, and audit evidence workflows. In addition, real-time dashboards provided live visibility into compliance posture, open risks, and remediation status across IT systems, ensuring stakeholders had up-to-date insights at all times.
The Impact
80% Faster Detection of IT Failures
Real time monitoring reduced time to identify configuration and access issues
40% Accelerated Remediation Cycles
Automated workflows reduced time required to resolve compliance gaps
50% Reduction in Audit Preparation Time
Streamlined compliance processes accelerated ISO readiness cycles
Near Real-Time Risk Visibility
Continuous monitoring reduced the compliance risk exposure window
Reduced Manual Compliance Effort
Automation lowered dependency on manual tracking and evidence collection
Improved Audit Confidence
Better traceability and fewer open findings strengthened audit readiness
Role of AWS
AWS services played a critical role in enabling the solution’s capabilities. AWS Security Hub aggregated security findings and compliance signals, aligning them with ISO 27001 controls to provide a centralized view of the organization’s security posture. AWS Lambda facilitated event-driven remediation by automatically responding to configuration drift and compliance violations. Amazon S3 was used to securely store compliance artifacts, audit logs, and evidence required for traceability and reporting. Additionally, AWS IAM enforced least-privilege access controls, strengthening identity and access governance across the environment.
Tech Stack
The solution was built on AWS cloud services, including Security Hub, Lambda, CloudWatch, S3, and IAM. The automation engine was powered by 6pillars.ai compliance and remediation workflows. Integration was achieved through Jira and ServiceNow, enabling seamless tracking and workflow management. Data storage was handled using Amazon S3 and AWS RDS, while dashboarding and reporting capabilities were delivered through the 6pillars console and AWS CloudWatch metrics.
